Averages are for single-family houses with the characteristics described in
Table 24.

All energy consumption values are presented in Mbtu in the RECS
dataset. Additionally the energy consumption output from the DOE 2.1E building
simulation model is also presented in Mbtu. Therefore we retain energy
consumption as Mbtu, and convert to utility units (kWh, therm, etc.) for
presentation to the user, using the fuel-specific conversion factors found in
Table 2 above.
